FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

1 - How will I get paid?
At the beginning of every tour, the customer will pay you in cash.

At the moment, and so our customers can feel confident (as we fully renewed our website and system), doing the “cash on delivery” system is the simplest and easiest. After some time, and thanks to our future customers’ feedbacks, we will activate the online payment system to secure the reservations (and avoid the “no show” or “last minute cancellation”).

2 - Do I need to speak Japanese?
No, you don’t need, but definitely this is a plus if you do.
3 - How much will it cost me?
Being listed on TTDIT is TOTALLY FREE. Contrary to other websites, you don’t have any monthly fees to pay.
But, every time one of your tour is booked, TTDIT will take a 10% commission on it. The payment (from you to us) has to be done within 7 days after the tour has been done with the client that gave you the money directly.
4 - Why do you take 10% only?
Most of our competitors take over 30% on each tour, and monthly fees. We want to give you a chance to enjoy your job without feeling ripped off. The 10% actually only covers the customer service fees, website costs, marketing costs (since we do promote your tours), and other simple administrative costs. Taking less than 10% would actually make us lose money.
5 - Do I have any obligation regarding my tours on TTDIT?
Only one: at least once a week, we ask our guides to promote their own tours online (ex: putting a status on a Facebook group, on Twitter, on any relevant page or website). You don’t need to do more than once a week. But doing so helps people to get visibility on your tours so you can get more clients.
Remember: you don’t promote TTDIT, you promote YOUR tours (on TTDIT).
6 - What happens if I cancel my client?
In the case of cancelling your client (for any reason), you have to notice us as soon as possible.

  • If you cancel more than 30 days before, just notice us, that’s all.
  • If you cancel from 15 to 30 days before, you will have to pay us the 10% commission (as we will use it as a coupon for the client).
  • If you cancel 3 to 14 days before, you will have to pay us 30% of the tour price.
  • If you cancel the day before you will have to pay us 50% of the tour price.
  • If you don’t show or cancel the day of the tour, you will have to pay us 100% of the tour price and you will get one “strike”. (after 3 strikes, you will be banned from our system).

Please note, the fees that you pay us will cover coupon costs and commercial gestures for the clients, to avoid highly negative feedbacks and bad promotion in this market, we won’t make any profit from it.

7 - What if the client doesn't come, hence doesn't pay?
For the first few months, we will only use the “cash on delivery” system, meaning there is no “pre-reservation” fees.
Though there is a risk of no show that might happen from time to time, we make sure that we have the client’s full identity (we have a copy of their IDs, full address, contact phone number and address of stay).
Most of the time, this problem won’t happen. But sometimes it does, please let us know within 5 hours if there is a no show, so we can contact the client a find a reason or solution.
If we can’t find one, you can’t ask us – TTDIT – for compensation, as we are not at fault.
8 - What happens if I am not in Tokyo for X period of time?
Please let us know as soon as possible as we can update your pages with those unavailable dates.
9 - Can I refuse a client?
We highly recommend that you don’t refuse clients, as this is bad advertising for us and for you.

If you refuse a client, there must be a legitimate reason. For example: you know the person and had problems with him/her in the past.

Refusing a client because you “have something else to do” is not a legitimate reason except in the case of any legal or administrative matter.

As soon as you have “busy days” that would lead you to refuse clients, please let us know as soon as you know. For example, if you plan to go to your friend’s wedding, let us know as soon as possible. If you don’t tell us, and a client books a tour, you will have to pay us the 10% commissions as we will us it as coupon for the client (but we will do our best to change the date with the client first of course).
